Vice Minister Niu Dun met with Mr. Qohir Rasulzoda, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan in Dushanbe on May 14, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening agricultural cooperation between China and Tajikistan.
At the meeting, Niu stressed that China highly values bilateral agricultural cooperation. Chinese enterprises and research institutes have developed several agro-tech demonstration bases in Tajikistan for trail and demonstration of quality corn, cotton, rice and vegetables, and such demonstration activities have shown significant results. Niu highly commended the fruitful cooperation in agricultural machinery, freshwater aquaculture, agricultural trade and personnel training.
Niu also hoped that the Tajik Government would offer preferential policies and trade facilitation to agricultural investment by Chinese agribusinesses in Tajikistan.
Rasulzoda conveyed the greetings of President Emomali Rakhmon to Vice Minister Niu, and noted great importance attached by the Tajik side to his visit.
Rasulzoda fully agreed with Niu on his comments, and expressed his willingness to intensify cooperation with China in crop production, agricultural machinery and aquaculture to improve food security in Tajikistan.
